A Message from
of the West Valley Food Pantry
The 12th of September marked the
30th Anniversary celebration of the West Valley Food Pantry and
included a volunteer recognition awards ceremony. The event was held
at the Prince of Peace family center and was attended by over 110
participants. The day marked a key milestone in the pantry's history
and recognition was given to long time supporters, founders, and the
The event began with opening remarks and introductions
by board chairman Richard Podleski. Debbie Decker, officer of
Outreach and Development co-presented the awards from the pantry and
Father Rand Reasoner from Prince of Peace church gave a memorable and
Simon Frost from the distinguished marketing firm
Siegel and Gale gave an overview of the new marketing strategy,
visual identity and marketing collaterals now being implemented.
These materials and new communications strategy will help establish a
strong brand identity for the West Valley Food Pantry. The new
pantry logo and informational pamphlets were unveiled and well
received by the attendees. Our core values of connecting with our
neighbors to Serve, Respect and Connect with clients and the
community were explained. These principles are the foundation of our
work as we move into the future.
The event included presentations by Los Angeles
councilman Mitch Englander from the 12th district, Calabasas
mayor Lucy Martin and the LA Regional Food Bank's CEO, Michael Flood.
Awards were presented by the City of Los Angeles and
Calabasas to the Pantry Board of Directors and volunteers.

dignitaries were given to;
The West Valley Food Pantry to recognize
of all of the volunteers that have served their community
over the last 30 years and still continue to do so. Without the
contributions of these volunteers the pantry would not exist.
Awards for Long Term Service and Dedication:
Margaret Shively- Co founder
and pantry supervisor- 30 plus years of
Al Trumpler- Treasurer and
Food Drive Volunteer- 24 years of service.
These recipients also received special recognition
certificates and a personal gift presented by the WVFP Board of
Awards for Outstanding Service, certificates
and a gift were presented by WVFP board to;

Emeritus- Ten years of service
Susan Connor-Steeb for 6 years of
Outstanding contributions and dedication.

Star Service Awards representing
